Volunteer Spotlight

Mutzie Prasse came to us for the winter of 2011-2012. Mutzi was a new volunteer and worked in the office and assisted with paperwork and filing, but contributed so much more than office help! Seeing Mutzi on Wednesday mornings was always a pleasant surprise, like clock work she'd show up at 10am after her morning water aerobics class. She'd get to work inputting the tremendous back log of names for our mailing list and somedays even took her work home with her. Because of Mutzi's outstanding efforts, she has been given the Mound House Volunteer Spotlight! Please see a little information about Mutzi below...

"I was born and raised in Chicago (an only child, I was spoiled but not a brat).  Went to Chicago schools until my senior year when we moved to Ft Lauderdale, finished high school and went to Sullins College (no longer exists) in Bristol, VA for one year....I called it the nunnery.

Transferred to UF in Gainesville, where I graduated with a BA degree in speech and hearing education.

Returned to Chicago and taught in the public schools and then in a suburban setting for 6 years.

Was married in 1961 to Dick Prasse and had two boys....raised them in Northbrook, IL..both went on to college, married and I have six grandchildren.  3 in Orlando (ages 22, 19 and 14)  and 3 in Clarendon Hills, IL (age 4 and twins 20 mos).

I went back to school when my boys were in middle school and became a paralegal and worked for 30 years for the same boss.  Retired and started spending more time in FL...Lost Dick in 2006 to alzheimers and began 1/2 year in FL and 1/2 year in Lincolnshire, IL. And am in a relationship with Walter Sheldon.

Traveled  extensively all over the world and still doing same...taking my 14 yr old grandson to Italy this summer (2012). So I guess my #1 hobby is travel and #2 would be photography.

I have always been involved in some kind of volunteer work:  Hadley School for the Blind, Winnetka, IL, LaCasa Rape Crisis Center, Gurnee, IL, Connections, Evanston, IL and Received the Volunteer of the Year in 1986 presented by Jr. Auxiliary of the U of Chicago Cancer Research Foundation. A mission trip to Ecuador.  And since coming to FL....God's Table and the Mound House....Ceel was the one that introduced the MH to me and I love being involved there."
